Join the Fun at the Wirral Show
Saturday 11th and Sunday 12th July 2009

One of the biggest and best FREE TO ENTER family shows in the UK, the Wirral Show™ Weekend 2009 is the 33rd presentation and promises a full programme of family events, shows and attractions.

The Gentle Giant of the skies made a majestic and spectacular appearance over the Wirral on Saturday 12th July 2008. The Airbus A380, the world’s largest commercial aircraft, was a star attraction at the 2008 Wirral Show.

Staff from the Airbus UK facility at Broughton Flintshire where the wings for the aircraft are manufactured and assembled, joined the huge crowds at the sea-front showground at New Brighton to see the mighty A380.

Wirral Show Chairman Michael Emberton confirmed the huge attendance at the 2008 Show to see the spectacular display by the world’s most advanced and efficient airliner. “It was an awesome sight and an unforgettable experience for all“, he commented.

British A380 project pilots Peter Chandler and Frank Chapman were at the controls of the A380, dubbed The Gentle Giant for being the quietest, most efficient airliner and the first to be successfully flown on eco-efficient fuel processed from liquid gas. Peter said ‘She is majestic and quiet in flight and has magnificent handling qualities: a joy to fly’.

The aircraft flew up the Mersey before sweeping low over the Wirral showground. Wirral Show-goers had a marvellous demonstration of the handling capabilities of this amazing feat of engineering.

WHAT’S GOING ON AT MARINE HOLIDAY PARK OVER WHIT WEEKEND?

Over May bank holiday weekend, we have lots of fun activities and great events that will keep the adults, nevermind the children, entertained for hours!  Come and spend the day with Captain Marine on Monday 25th May and be a pirate for the day over ‘PIRATE DAY’. Enjoy a pirate picnic, whilst discovering hidden treasure, as well as getting the chance to take part in our Fancy Dress Competition.

We also have, New for 2009, “WaterWalkerz”…staying at Marine Holiday Park will literally have you walking on water! The entertainment doesn’t stop there!

If you are staying for a week break, on Thursday 28th May, we have a FUN DAY with Captain Marine, where you will enjoy a picnic, treasure hunt and face painting with Captian Marine. On Friday 29th May, children have the opportunity to put on a live show and perform to their friends and family, with S.B. ENTERTAINMENTS. Recently, all the finalists from our Kareoke heats throughout the year gathered at Marine Park to sing their hearts out one last time, for the chance to win the coverted Marine Park Kareoke Champion 2008 award.

Last weekend marked the end of our competition and our judges were greeted with lovely hot weather as the examined our entrants. There were so many excellent entries that our judges found it hard to pick 1st, 2nd and 3rd.

However the winners were decided upon and the following were presented with certificates at our award ceremony on Sunday afternoon in the Mariner’s Club:

1st Place: Mr & Mrs Fell of 64 Nelson’s Court

2nd Place: Mr & Mrs Mapp of H22

3rd Place: Miss Elizabeth Williams of H27
